Maruti Suzuki Sales Rise 1.7% In November To Over 1.53 Lakh Units

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) registered a 1.7 per cent increase in sales to 1,53,223 units in November 2020. The company sold 1,50,630 units in the corresponding month last year. The domestic sales of the country’s largest carmaker increased marginally to 1,44,219 units last month, as compared to 1,43,686 units in November 2019, according to a recent statement filed by the company. The sales of its mini cars, consisting of S-Presso and Alto, decreased by 15.1 per cent to 22,339 units as compared to 26,306 in the corresponding month last year. The sales of its compact segment, comprising models such as Celerio, Swift, Ignis, Dzire, and Baleno also declined by 1.8 per cent to 76,630 units last month, as compared to 78,013 units in November last year. Additionally, the sales of the mid-sized sedan Ciaz, increased by 29.1 per cent to 1,870 units last month. This was an increase from the 1,448 units sold in November last year. Honda Announces Year-End Offers Of Up To ₹ 2.5 Lakh On Its BS6 Cars

As we are approaching year-end, automobile companies and car dealers will make one last effort to lure buyers to clear out the inventory before the year ends. Honda Cars India has announced year-end offers on its BS6 compliant cars, almost on its entire line-up, with benefits of up to ₹ 2.5 lakh. These offers consist of cash discount, exchange benefits and extended warranty. Additional benefits include a loyalty bonus and an exchange discount of ₹ 6,000 and ₹ 10,000 respectively.

All-Electric Volvo XC40 Recharge Coming To India In 2021

Volvo Cars has confirmed that it will bring the new XC40 Recharge electric SUV to India in 2021. It’s the electric version of the company’s popular compact SUV XC40, and it was just last month that the company began the production of the SUV at its plant in Ghent, Belgium. Last year, the Swedish carmaker had announced that it will be introducing 4 new electrified cars in India in the next 3 years, and now we have confirmed details that the Volvo XC40 Recharge will be one of them. Additionally, we also expect to see a plug-in hybrid version of the upcoming Volvo S60 sedan coming to India later. The Volvo XC40 Recharge comes with a dual-motor powertrain with 150 kW electric motors on each axle that converts to 408 bhp. The electric motors are powered by a 78 kWh battery pack that offers an approximate range of up to 400 km. It can achieve 0-100 kmph in 4.7 seconds, before hitting the top speed of 180 kmph. IIT Delhi only changed the engine apart from a couple of other components of the vehicle. October Car, Motorbike Sales Skid As Dealers Caution Over Stock

Retail car sales in India fell by 8.8 per cent in October and motorbikes by 26.8 per cent from a year ago, with purchasing slow to recover from the effects of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, data released by automobile dealers on Monday showed. The sales numbers, based on vehicles registered in the country, were higher than September as more people visited car showrooms, but the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) warned that momentum is slow. New cars fared better than older models, entry-level motorcycles saw poor demand and discounts offered by automakers in October 2019 were higher – all of which affected sales this year, FADA President Vinkesh Gulati said in a statement. Sales last year were also higher because the festive season ended in October, whereas this year it includes November, he added. Automakers typically stock up dealerships ahead of major festivals that begin in September and run until October or November, during which Indians make large purchases.

Lamborghini Huracan STO Teased Ahead Of Debut

Lamborghini, the Indian luxury sports car maker is expected to officially reveal the Huracan Super Trofeo Omologato or STO this week. Just before its debut, the Italian marquee has teased the sports car on its social media channels. The new teaser posted on Twitter gives us an early glimpse at what we can expect from Lamborghini’s new model, revealing a few details of the car. The supercar will be unveiled on November 18. Dutch Students Build Electric Car from Recycled Plastic and Garbage

Dutch students have created a fully functioning electric car made entirely out of waste, including plastics fished out of the sea, recycled PET bottles and household garbage. The bright yellow, sporty two-seater which the students named ‘Luca’, can reach a top speed of 90 kilometres per hour and has a reach of 220 kilometres when fully charged, the Technical University of Eindhoven said. “This car is really special, because it’s made all out of waste”, project manager Lisa van Etten told Reuters. “Our chassis is made out of flax and recycled PET bottles. For the interior we also used unsorted household waste.”

Mahindra & Mahindra Domestic Sales Rise 1% In October, Shares Gain

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) on Monday reported a 1 per cent rise in domestic sales to 18,622 units last month, compared to 18,460 units in the corresponding period last year. The improvement in sales numbers comes at a time when the government is gradually easing the restrictions imposed to control the spread of coronavirus and ahead of the festival season. Mahindra & Mahindra shares gained nearly 1 per cent to ₹ 599.50 apiece on the BSE during the session. “For Mahindra, the festive season has started on a positive note with deliveries and bookings being higher than last year,” said Veejay Nakra, chief executive officer-automotive division, M&M. M&M reported a 3 per cent rise in overall auto sales, including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles and exports, at 44,359 units in October 2020, compared to 51,896 units in October 2019. Mercedes-Benz India Delivers 550 Cars During The Festive Season

Mercedes-Benz today announced record customer deliveries achieved during the auspicious occasion of Navratri and Dussehra. Hyundai has revealed its latest high-performance model, the all-new i20 N, a racetrack capable hot hatch inspired by the i20 WRC rally car.
