Sun Pharma shares jump over 7%, market cap rises by Rs7,951 crore

New Delhi:  Shares of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd on Monday rose over 7% after the company reported its first profit growth in six quarters, helped by lower material costs and a one time tax write back. In intraday trading, Sun Pharma shares rose 8.17% to Rs504.70 apiece on BSE. On NSE, shares of the company advanced by 6.54% to close at Rs497. The company’s market cap went up by Rs7,951.2 crore to Rs119,891.20 crore. In terms of equity volume, 11.48 lakh shares of the company were traded on BSE and over one crore shares changed hands on NSE during the day. Q4 net profit rose 7% from a year ago quarter to Rs1,310 crore—higher than the Rs895 crore profit projected by analysts tracked by  Bloomberg . The profit was boosted by a one time tax write back of Rs259 crore and a 39% reduction in raw material costs. The Indian Railways is facing intense competition from airlines and road transport services for a while now. With dirt-cheap prices of air tickets, and easy availability of road transportation, it’s necessary for the Railways to boost its revenue by devising various ways of earnings to remain in the game. Keeping this in mind, the Railways is planning to modernise its goods sheds in big cities across the country and lease them out to private companies under public-private partnership model, a Mint report said. Indian Railways sees worst punctuality performance in three years; 30% trains run late in 2017-18

The Indian Railways has registered its worst performance when it comes to punctuality in the past three years. Almost 30 per cent of the trains were late in the financial year 2017-18, according to official data. While the year 2015-2016 recorded 77.4 per cent punctuality of trains, the subsequent years have seen a drop in that figure with 76.69% in 2016-17 and 71.39% in 2017-18. Officials have said that the Railways is facing the punctuality issue due to the maintenance work undertaken on a massive scale. Both mail and express trains have been running behind scheduled time because of over 15 lakh maintenance blocks that were put in 2,687 locations in 2016-17. This rose to 18 lakh in 2017-18 with maintenance work in 4,426 locations. Sources in the ministry said that Indian Railway Board Chairman Ashwani Lohani has told the zonal railway officials it was embarrassing that such delays were happening. In case your train is cancelled, money will be refunded automatically: Indian Railways

The Indian Railways on Friday announced that if your train is fully – from start station to end station – cancelled, your tickets will be cancelled and refunds will be processed automatically. In a tweet, the IRCTC, which handles online ticketing operations of the Indian Railways, said that in case of train cancellation, ‘PNR (passenger name record) will be automatically cancelled. Refunds will be processed in the same account through which payment was made’.
