Welspun Corp Limited inaugurates its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, 20th December 2020: Welspun Corp Limited, a part of the Welspun Group and a leading manufacturer of large diameter welded pipes globally, has launched its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility near Bhopal, in the Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh. The facility was inaugurated by Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Honorable Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. The grand launch ceremony also saw attendance of Shri Prabhuram Chaudhary, Hon’ble Minister, Govt. of M.P. Dept. of Health & Family Welfare and Shri Rajvardhan Singh Dattigaon, Hon’ble Minister, Govt. of M.P. Dept. of Industrial Policy & Investment Promotion along with Mr. B. K. Goenka, Chairman, Welspun Group.

Aligned with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country to release the roadmap of ‘Atmanirbhar Madhya Pradesh’, with a sharper focus on infrastructure development, health and education, economy and employment as well as good governance. In line with the state’s ambitious goal of accelerating investments in industrial development for economic growth, Welspun Corp established its world-class Pipe and Coating facility in the Raisen district, which is also strategically located in close proximity to Bhopal. 

Set up with an initial investment of INR 250 crore, the state-of-the-art facility is spreads across 150 acres in Jamunia Khejda of Raisen district. This facility will play a vital role in building cost-effective, sustainable, and robust water transportation and infrastructure in the state of Madhya Pradesh. Its installed capacity of 305 MMTPA will allow for the seamless supply of large diameter pipes to various critical projects that directly impact millions of people, including farmers looking to increase their irrigated lands. Apart from the water, this facility will also energies the central and eastern regions by helping create a strong and robust Oil & Gas pipeline grid.

The new manufacturing unit will provide direct employment to over 350 members while creating thousands of indirect employment and livelihood opportunities, contributing to socio-economic development – both within the region and on a national level. Focus is on utilizing the local skilled manpower so as to provide employment to the younger generation in and around Bhopal. Additionally, reiterating its vision to promoting greater gender equity, Welspun Corp will employ women in technical roles in the manufacturing unit to encourage India’s female workforce to aspire to a future in the field of manufacturing and excel in their professional careers.
