According to the World Health Organization (WHO), India had 69.2 million people living with diabetes in 2015. By 2030 it is expected to touch 100 million. Known as a silent killer, diabetes is a chronic metabolic disease caused by reduced insulin produced by the body. People with poor control over their blood sugar risk disease or damage to eyes, heart, kidney and other organs. A lesser monitored yet widely prevalent complication of chronic diabetes is nerve damage or neuropathy, which affects the feet. The person does not feel; hence does not notice an injury. The injury does not heal, turning into an ulcer. If untreated, this leads to gangrene, and requires amputation, ranging from toe to entire leg. PBT grew 10% YoY to INR829m (MOFSLE: INR1b). For 1HFY20, PPoP/PAT grew 38%/27% to INR2.5b/INR1.1b. –       PPoP at INR1.3b (+21% YoY) was driven by 29% YoY/4% QoQ growth in NII to INR3.5b (in-line). However, lending spreads/NIMs declined 27bp/5bp QoQ to 10.1%/8.8% as cost of funds increased 26bp sequentially. Other income stood at INR639m. Total opex increased INR2.9b, led by 28% YoY growth in staff expense. Liver donated by a Brain-dead senior citizen saves precious life

Mumbai , 7 th  November 2019: Family of a 72-year-old man from Mumbai saved a precious life by consenting to donate his liver at Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital (NSSH) on Wednesday. The family’s decision also marked the 72 nd  cadaveric donation of Mumbai. The donor—with a history of stroke ten years ago, was rushed to the hospital on November 4 in an unconscious state. After two days of treatment and an array of diagnostic tests, the senior citizen was declared brain-dead on November 6, due to an irreversible damage to the brain caused by intracranial bleeding. “As soon as the doctors and medical social workers counselled us about his brain death, we consented to donate his organs. Our loss is unimaginable but my father would’ve wanted to save someone else’s life in his death,” said the donor’s son.
