Finance Minister To Hold 1st Pre-Budget Consultations Tomorrow

The Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will hold her 1st pre- budget consultations with top industrialists tomorrow i.e. December 14. The finance minister will start her pre-budget consultations with different stakeholder groups from tomorrow, December 14, 2020 in New Delhi and the meetings will be held virtually, the finance ministry said. The finance minister is likely to present her second budget of Modi 2.0 on February 1, 2021. It is a common practice for the finance minister to meet various stakeholders, including farmer’s organizations, economists, civil society and industry bodies as part of the pre-budget consultative exercise. The Finance Minister takes a final call on the tax proposals after completing the pre-budget consultations. The proposals are subsequently discussed with the Prime Minister before the budget is finalized.

After Farmers' Talks With Rajnath Singh, Noida-Delhi Border Point Reopens

The Noida-Delhi border point at Chilla reopened for traffic late last night after two weeks following successful talks between the protesting farmers’ representatives and the central government. During the meeting Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh promised proactive consideration of the agitators’ demands. The road leading from Noida to Delhi was first partially reopened around 10 pm and then fully by around 11 pm on Saturday, with police personnel and farmers together removing the barricades. Farmers To Block Delhi-Jaipur Highway Despite PM's Assurance

Thousands of farmers – protesting against the government’s controversial agricultural laws – have planned a massive rally today to block the Delhi-Jaipur highway as they pledge to intensify their agitation, which started late November. Today’s rally will be followed by an all-India hunger strike on Monday when the demonstrators plan to hold protests at district offices. On Saturday, over 4,000 policemen were deployed in Gurgaon and Haryana to stop the farmers from occupying highways. Farmers’ protest is set to intensify today as they plan to block Delhi-Jaipur highway, a day after one of the 32 protesting unions moved the Supreme Court against the centre’s contentious agricultural laws. Mumbai's "Biggest" Drug Dealer With Celeb Links In Net After Record Haul

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has detained one of Mumbai’s “biggest” drugs suppliers, and recovered a list of his clients many of whom are Bollywood celebrities, agency sources said, adding that this could be “one of the last links” in the drugs case related to actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. Accused, Azam Sheikh Jumman, allegedly got drugs directly from Himachal Pradesh and gave them to even bigger suppliers. To escape scrutiny, he even used code words for different drugs, like “Ice-cream” for high-quality hashish called Malana Cream, and “Patthar (stone)” for cocaine, sources said. Jumman was reportedly detained after multiple raids were conducted at various locations in Mumbai’s posh Andheri West area, including his residence. He would be arrested after the raids are concluded and brought to the NCB office for further questioning, an official told news agency ANI.
